Standard
of the Breed
If you're
interested in mastiffs and dog-shows, or just wonder what
a mastiff is supposed to look like in detail, you should
take a closer look at the breed standard. Even though there
is a standard for how a mastiff should appear, this doesn't
mean that dogs with minor "mistakes" can not be great show
dogs. There are champions with for example white claws or
too bright ears.
The
overall impression is the most important thing to consider.
Even so, the details in the standard are made for a good
reason. These details all together build the full dog. The
dog's mental qualities also affect the judge's evaluation
of the show dog. At MASTIFF-WEB you will find the standard
for both the "Old English Style" and the "American Style"
of the English Mastiff.
